Watched Der Golem (1920) the other day to get myself in the mood for spooky season. The Golem himself seems largely played for laughs by my modern eyes but the film is a work of genius. The stylised sets, antiquated costumes and visual sorcery are spellbinding.
I must admit I was unfamiliar with Judenhut. They’re very pointy and topical for today!
Maybe of interest to wargamers of the Indian subcontinent? Panipat is a new film about the Maratha/Afghan battle in the 18th century. Afghanistan fans will see Ahmad Shah Abdali (founder of the Durrani Empire) in action. The trailer even features zamburak camel-mounted swivel guns!

The stories in H.P. Lovecraft’s Dream Cycle are some of my favourite weird tales. I’ve just heard news that The Dreamlands film could be a reality through the wonders of crowdfunding.
According to the production team The Dreamlands will be…
… based on H.P. Lovecraft’s short stories “Celephaïs”, “The White Ship”, “The Strange High House in the Mist” and “The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath” among others. It will build upon the world created by H.P. Lovecraft but also remain faithful to his core concepts of fantastic escapism and cosmic horror.
Huan Vu (director, writer) previously worked on Die Farbe, a film adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Colour Out of Space”, which renowned Lovecraftian scholar S.T.
